It has been such a crazy busy few days on marrs.
Katie also had her continuation ceremony from middle school this week.
Here is my beautiful baby girl…
You know what that all meant?! Yep, it was time to party…..
Thanks Tiffany, Beth, Sarah, and Ammie for helping pull that off!!!
I am ready for summer!!
Can you believe it?
That will be the year my Jackson Wade graduates high school.
Today, he made one step closer.
He moved up from elementary school to middle school.
I no longer have a child that attends the school I live a block and a half from.
Or the last day of school…
Or when we spring forward (that’s mine, by the way)…
Nope. Danny’s very favorite day of the year was yesterday.
The first day the pools open!!!
We didn’t stay long…and he was shivering something fierce when done…but it was a good day….one of the best!!!
The other day, I was killing a few minutes by walking through the neighborhood thrift store.
A table spoke to me again…
It was beat up, but I liked the size and I really liked the legs.
I did some work to it.
I painted it…
I lightly distressed and stenciled it…
I can totally see a piece of furniture finished when I walk through a thrift store.
Mr H was Danny’s special education teacher all throughout his elementary school years.
For six and a half years, we saw Gary daily. Even during homebound, Gary would come by in the mornings before work.
Gary is moving to San Diego.
Today was his good bye party.
Because its not an event worth marking unless you have balloons, we brought the balloons…
Danny and Gary.
Danny’s school team (sort of;)
And you should always celebrate with balloons…
And just in case you were wondering if Danny appreciated Gary was moving out of state.
He totally did.
Safe travels Mr H. Now we have another reason to go to San Diego.
Not something you would expect someone to blog about.
But in this house, it’s a big deal. Especially in the spring. Danny isn’t usually strong enough to tackle something as simple as a bike ride this time of year.
For most people, riding a bike is something that you just do. But if you’ve ever taught a child to ride, you realize the amount of motor planing, balance, and core strength involved. Danny will never ride a traditional bike.
And you can’t just let him go…
But he does love to ride….
He especially enjoys going f a s t …..
Ok, not really an entire day…
More like an afternoon.
We surprised the girls by picking them up at lunch time. The cover story I gave Kate was she had a doctor’s appointment.
We went for fondue.
Because nothing celebrates the end of a school year like cheese….
Next year those young women are in high school.
I was asked if I were training for anything this summer.
Nope. I was just going to run when I wanted to where I wanted to.
And that was the plan until bunco last night.
Sitting around my back garden after a bit (ok, maybe more than a bit) we decided that it would be a good idea to half iron man in boulder as a relay.
Ammie would do the 1.2 mile swim. Karen would do the 56 mike bike ride and I would bring up the rear with my very slow 13.1 miles.
Hugh is going to do the whole thing. He has a sprint tri tomorrow morning. A Olympic tri in a July and then this one in August. After he will train for the New York marathon in November. Yep. Is was to be his summer of living like Sullivan.
This crazy neighborhood. Sitting around swilling wine and snacking on dark chocolate…THAT’S when you decide to form a relay team for a half ironman.
Yeah. I haven’t sent an email out yet confirming that we actually meant it. I’m doing that next.
Silly silly neighborhood.
“You know what would be fun?”
Not doing a ladies spa day. Nope. Lets put together a relay team for the 1/2 ironman and go play with the real athletes. OMGosh…you ever want to get a complex about your fitness level? Yeah, go play around the uber fit folks.
What do say Ammie…are you in?
And does anyone have Karen’s email address?!
Jack has been playing a bunch of baseball yesterday…
Luckily Katie was there with her magic phone and was able to shoot me a few pictures.
As Katie said….Jack was quite a stud last night…
Do you know how I know that it’s almost summer?
It’s not because there is run off…
Or because its starting to leaf out…
Or even because we get outside to enjoy the lovely warm temperatures….
I know it’s almost summer because my oldest redhead feels strong enough to walk into school…and walk back out at the end of the day…
