Just hanging out…
Then a quick lap around the off leash park to spend some quality time with Mr Mulligan.
It’s a good thing dad was along….
Although I did not cook a turkey today.
Kate requested crab legs and Jack requested ham.
We had both. 😉
Holidays used to be a major bone of contention for us here on Marrs.
We would try to get together with the extended family. And Dan would decide he had enough after about thirty minutes.
So he and I would come home leaving Hugh with the other two kids.
I have to tell you, that really bothered me…. the five of us never spent our holidays together. And that we would try and fail over and over again to force the issue.
A few years back, we finally stopped attending anything during a holiday.
Unless it was something the five of us could do…we would just skip it. Because it was more important that we spend the day together.
Since then…I actually have started looking forward to them again (rather than dreading them).
So, of course, since we have an untraditional…just us…thanksgiving dinner…there is absolutely no reason to not serve a very untraditional meal…
Why not crab legs and ham???
We do not have a glam, color coordinated, right out of better homes and gardens Christmas tree.
Rather, we have a tree full of memories.
I don’t scrapbook…all my pictures are in different laptops around the house.
But we do pick up something from every trip to hang on our tree. Some are actual ornaments, others are just something that is completely that trip.
Pair that with what the kids made when they were young…and you have a tree full of memories.
It was a cold grey day yesterday.
We spent a quiet day at home celebrating Danny’s birthday.
Because it’s not a celebration until you set balloons free….
We decided to have bonding time with Alesia…
And because Dan the man has been all about Christmas since the first snow last month…we decked our halls….
A new game…
And d is officially 14.
Not a bad way to spend the day.
I had an unexpected and last minute trip for a few days last week.
Everyone was incredibly supportive and totally pitched in….but I still felt the need to put my house in order yesterday.
It didn’t take long, which also allow me to do regular Saturday type stuff.
And because I was a crazy control freak type lady yesterday….today should be lovely and quiet.
